R.I.P. Adam West

Yesterday, I received a news post that Adam West, from the original Batman TV series, had passed away.  I had just seen him back in April in Dallas Texas, and he was such a friendly individual.  Growing up in the 70’s, there were not many channels as we have today on TV, but one of the shows that I watched as a kid was re-runs of Adam West and Burt Ward of Batman.

I want to really say, that it was this show that started my interest in the comic book world.  The show was pretty cheesy, but it was entertaining.  The classic “BANG”, “POW” signs with the punches, the climbing up a side of a building, to later realize that it was just them walking normally as the camera had been turned to the side.  These are the funny memories that Adam West has left me in my life.

Getting the chance to meet him in Dallas was amazing.  Even though I had to wait in line to meet him at the FanExpo, it was worth the wait.  Standing there seeing a childhood hero sitting near me was just crazy.  I never thought that I would ever get a chance to say hello to him and to hear him acknowledge me by saying my name  (in his voice) was just awesome.

Being able to get his autograph signed to me was just wonderful.  Adam was everything in person that I thought he was going to be meeting him.  I’m just so happy I was able to meet him.  This autograph will be something I will cherish for a very long time.

He will be missed, from his classic Batman series to his memorable voice on Family Guy.

Rest In Peace Adam West.
